Another award show in Korea and another set of celebrities that need help in fashion. Korea has been in a roll with award and fashion shows lately so I guess some stars would take some ideas of what not to wear to these functions, but still, they don’t get it.

First of all, NO, Andre Kim’s creations are not allowed to be worn ouside-in public-where people can see you-let alone where photographers are present. It’s so said too because God knows how many times this dress was worn repeatitively by different women for his fashion shows. I wonder what she’s getting out of wearing this dress-in public? Lee Ji Sun is the representative of Korea, what the hell is she doing wearing hand-me-downs? WTF, just because it’s a recycled dress.

Kim Hye Soo. Well, let’s see, not exactly the most animal friendly-you have the cow leather parts and then the cheetah prints, yeah, I’m not happy. Not exactly classy and pretty boring. I have always believed that brown is a very tough color to carry let alone put on, but I guess some people just don’t get it. Eww, get a stylist Ms. Kim-after you fire the one who dressed you up with this outfit.

Jo Han Sun. I presume he was on a tight budget so he decided to skimp on his jacket-not a good idea. Jackets accentuates the body line and gives the wearer a classic look, so cutting it short actually will make you look short and tubby-too bad, the jacket would have looked pretty good. Jo Han Sun also should have taken some time to look in the mirror and fix his collar, it only takes that little detail to actually look good. Eww, ’nuff said.

For once someone at this award show made me so proud. Im SungMin in a fushia dress, with the best cuts and minimal but flattering accessories rocks the red carpet. The cute cleavage perfects the dress. An Aww moment.

The famous American casual wear namebrand, Diesel, recently paraded their latest at a fashion show held in Korea. From the looks of the celebrities that attended, the theme of the evening seems to have been jeans or the casual look. Here are a few that either dolled-up or who did not care at the show.

Someone tell Choi Yuh Jin that what she’s wearing is ugly. Damn, Choi is a model yet she can’t even dress herself either that or her stylist was having a bad day. Look at her, she’s wearing a guy’s shirt trimmed at the waist, capris, and (here’s the clincher…) red stilettos. Who wears red shoes with a jean outfit? And moreover her “deminim” attire looks like a cheap imitation, the color is so faded, think one of those cotton button ups that look like jeans. Her clutch looks like a manicure kit or a gun case or even a brick. The shades aren’t helping either, they look like she got them from a thift shop. Totally EWW.

Cho So Young looks decent enough I guess. Her dress looks like a cross between a Micronesian dress and a Finland one (think Ricola, the candy). Honestly, I hate the details on the chest part of the dress, its annoying and doesn’t play out anything. It’s also really distracting, it looks like a stain I want to wash it off the dress. Her cluch clashes with the rest of the outfit, I seriously think its made out of buttons. I really think that she should have worn high heels for this dress, the ballerian pumps make her look small and insignificant. She’s also not carrying the dress, would it hurt to actually look like she likes the dress? Another EWW. (damn, that’s two straight, next!)

Boring isn’t it. I mean its okay enough. Gong Hyn Joo went for the casual minimalist look with the universal black and peek-a-boo heels. But honestly as a celebrity she might just go unnoticed with this number. I mean I am all for casual comfortable, but still a little spice wouldn’t hurt. Too boring for a rating, not even EWW cuts it.

Ji Hyun Woo looks casual borderline insipid bordeline homosexual. The hair could use a revamping, the shades are a no-no, the jacket is my major problem. The jacket looks like a cross between a wind-breaker and imitation leather, it’s killing me! I think he should have rather gone with the pants, shirt, dog tags, and maybe a tuxedo jacket instead–the rocker-urban look maybe? Now I see it, the pose makes him look gay, its just so upright and rigid. Beyond EWW (maybe I should make up more categories, right?)

Does anybody else see Kim Min Joon’s resemblence to a Japanese Imperial Troop? This is a gutsy getup if you know your history. The jacket even comes with accessorizing Japanese characters. The square hat and dirty converse are also adding to the historic outfit. All in all I don’t like this outfit also because he looks so stuffy and stocky. WTF outfit for me (read your history).

EWW. Take off the vest; it’s just sitting there and it looks too feminine for Oh Ji Ho’s physique.

There are celebrities that go to events forgetting not to be drugged, not dressed properly, but apparently Park Shi Yeon forgot to comb her hair. Her bag is brown, her ring is jade, her pants are grey with a YELLOW top! Her outfit is poor, I mean, seriously yellow? The summer is almost over and Diesel is not one to have bright yellow for its line. Somebody needs a stylist and a brush. EWW.

Just like Oh Ji Ho, Yoo In Young needs to kill the vest, her outfit looks hot without it. The vest just hangs there and makes her look even more flat chested. What is it with these celebrities and white vests? They’re ugly, lose them. EWW.

Wow now this is the winner—EWW of the month. Yoon Ji Hye shopped at the same thrift shop as Choi Yuh Ji. The classic guy shirt is not meant for women, somebody get this through their heads! So why take it, belt them and then bother calling it an outfit? Its not flattering at all. It looks like she’s ready for sex anytime, just rip the belt off! Yoon Ji Hye go shopping, of the thousands of shops in Korea this is all you could come up with? WTF to the power of one hundred.

Not one AWW outfit, how depressing! Hopefully celebrities will take a hint and consider a little classier clothes or research a little of the brand’s show they’ll be attending and maybe arrive with a getup from that brand. I don’t know, just a little suggestion.

For those who do not know who, Sandara Park, is (understandably) I will give a little background on her before I continue my rant. Sandara Park was once a contestant on the popular talent show “Star Circle Quest” held by one of the largest television companies in the Philippines. Being Korean she was a novelty during the entire course of the contest and gained many fans with her charisma. She did not win the contest being able to capture the second spot behind her boyfriend, who won the contest. Famous for her relationships, (lack of) talent, and cheesy image, Sandara Park, was able to capture a great number of fans during her reign as Pop Princess. But in the midst of all her popularity, Sandara Park, decided to return to her native Korea to audition for the entertainment agency, YG Entertainment. Little is known about how well she did during that audition, but one thing known for sure, upon her arrival back to the Philippines, the teen cult phenomenon once known as Sandy was a distant memory. Shows and movies that she once dominated during her “hey days” were too busy with emerging fresh stars, Park was left with little on her plate, if any at all. Today she is doing fairly well, hardly seen but still present.

But it seems that Park might actually have another shot at fame, this time in Korea. Apparently, the YG audition went pretty well since it is all over the internet how she is now going to be part of the YG family. YG plans to debut Park as the next BoA. Now that is pretty bold. Given Park was often slammed for being all cute and charisma and no talent and given BoA is on a completely different playing field from her.

As I write this, I wonder though how Park’s dedicated fans are feeling for trading them in for the Korean market. I mean Park has even stated ” I’m more Filipino, than Korean.” once on a show and now she’s leaving. I guess I can not really blame her for trying to take on Korea. I just hope YG won’t get too disappointed about Park’s “talents”, I mean in the Philippines she is known for her novelty, cheesy songs and awkwardness more than anything else.

Now that the Philippines will lose Park, how will her fans react? How will Korea take to the Filipinized-Korean? Will they even stand her (a lot of Filipinos hardly could)? Will she make it or come crawling back to the Philippines? Given the short life-expectancy of female singers in Korea, especially pop idols, will she be able to utilize her time?

I don’t know how she will fare, but the Korean market will be hard to break with her talents, or lack of thereof. I will definately follow this story.

According to an article from Liberty Times, San Chengzen Yi, producer of the Japanese version and, Angie Chai, producer of the Taiwanese version of the same drama, Hana Yori Dango recently met up for a cup of coffee, discussing of all things, which of the two male leads was more handsome than the other.

I find this amusing considering the producers completely disregarded discussing techniques used in the different versions of the drama or the better actor between the two actors. What I find more amusing is the fact that Taiwanese media just had to report on the fact that the producers unanamously agreed that Jerry Yan was more handsome than Jun Matsumoto. Even going as far as saying that ALL japanese Hana Yori Dango fans find the Taiwanese lead more appealing. Somebody or rather some reporter needs a lesson in Sociology, because according to studies Asians are prone to agreeing with each other even if one of the participants in the conversation thinks otherwise.

What more, I feel that Jun Matsumoto was the better actor playing on his talent, charisma, and face to give Domyouji justice, while Jerry Yan on the other hand was an awful actor who used is face for the entire drama series to carry him through. I mean somebody watch the vomit scene in Meteor Garden, I consider that Yan’s worst (and most humorous).

Apparently, Matsumoto was considered more about how much he would look in the “pinapple hair” that Yan sported during Meteor Garden than about how much of an actor he was. Nice, so now I can tell all my celebrity-wannabe friends that they should invest more in their hair rather than acting lessons to make it into the entertainment business.
Nice to know these producers discussed more about shallow aspects of the actors rather than anything that would improve the drama scene.

This is a really, really old interview with JYP (a Korean singer and producer)—from three days ago, but I just really had to share this and provide my comments, because I just think he is absolutely ridiculous. The following will be the cut and paste of his translated interview and then my thoughts.

There are currently three Korean and two Chinese trainees getting lessons in dance, English and vocals. JYP USA is a company that creates added value by investing in stars rather than music. We aim at nurturing high-quality stars who can meet the global standard.

WRITER’S THOUGHTS (Just because I disagree with him on so many levels and think that someone needs to bash his head in, hoping that some form of common sense will come of it)

So he believes its all about the star’s image that will create a superstar and the music becomes secondary. WOW what has the world come to? And what global standard? Different societies and countries view celebrity standards in different ways.

If we produce successful cases, the U.S. music industry will follow us. I think we can make a success of it in two years.

Isn’t he the ambitious one, eh? Two years for success in the States? Dude do you know how long Mariah Carey had to wait? How long Tina Turner had to struggle? How long the Backstreet Boys had to crawl their way to the top just to enjoy three years of extreme popularity? And this guy is saying how he is so good as to do all of that in two years? And for a producer I find it ridiculous how he actually believes the US music industry is that easily influenced. The US music industry has been around forever and have formulas that have been tried and tested, do you really think that these people would easily drop what they have been doing for years to follow JYP’s ways? I don’t think so, but apparently he doesn’t feel that way.

MIN, a sixteen-year-old Korean singer trainee with your company, will make her official debut in the U.S. and one of the major U.S. music labels will release her debut album. Her official U.S. album will be the third by an Asian singer after Taiwanese singer Coco Lee and Japanese singer Utada Hikaru, and she’ll be the first Korean.

Who the hell is Coco Lee? And this Min girl must be something to be compared to Utada Hikaru. But still Utada Hikaru is known as another Asian singer not exactly a world singer. He is also pretty cocky pointing it out that a “major U.S. music labels” will release her debut album. Who? Jive? Sony? I mean these labels can easily throw out albums and at the same time kick you out and forget about you if you dont make their profit goal for the quarter. Who is he kidding, versus American Idols and other up and coming American singers who is going to pay attention to a sixteen year old Asian girl. I mean seriously does JYP think the American market is the same and as easy to break into as the Korean market, where mere trainees already have fans and where fans practically use their parent’s mortgage payments to keep up to date will all their celebrities parapharnilia?

“It’s possible. I think three types of people can be global stars: Chinese who speak English, Americans who speak Chinese and Koreans who speak Chinese and English.

I know global stars (eg. Britney Spears) who have a hard time speaking English yet alone Chinese or Korean. Is he for real? In that case then how come so many Asian singer hopefuls only make it as far as the local bar to sing? I have yet to hear of a “Global Star” who can speak all these languages and make it big. Any takers?

“Certainly, if I had persuaded him, Rain would never have left JYP. But I couldn’t hold him back when he said he wanted to stand on his own feet. I thought it would be right to give him a chance to stand on his, considering his future. I bet Rain will succeed in U.S. market if he has a good command of English.”

I bet Rain would have been a success in the U.S. market if only he could be recognized as a great talent first. Yeah his english may be atrocious, but still you can know how to use every word in the english language in a sentence but if you can’t put meanings together it wont work either.

Thirdly, Koreans have artistic potential as a people living on a peninsula, like Italians.

I’m sorry, but how does living on a peninsula qualify as having artistic talent? Celin Dion is a fantastic singer and she was born in Canada.

Education in Korea has been destroying the creativity of youngsters. If I were to invest in Korea’s artistic future, I’d choose to invest in juvenile reformatories rather than schools.

So what he means to say is that by educating Korean children they ruin their chances of a good future? So he wants as many Koreans to be uneducated and live off the land in exchange for singing. I have never been educated in Korea and I do not know the method of teaching they implement there but Im sure they at least require language and math. Koreans are streotyped as beyond intelligent, here where I’m from, and for good reason, even those who come fresh from Korea learn English quickly and effeciently with the little they come with, and JYP means to tell me that the education in Korea is corrupting its citizens? I wonder if he has even seen a juvinile reformatory.

It is my wish that people remember me as a player who lived a joyful life.”

I will remember his as the unrational, narrow-minded, doesn’t believe in education and the potential of his own country, old man that he is. Amen.

FYI: Bada is a famous singer in Korea and is currently (I believe) the “face of Korea” for its tourism promotion program, so basically Tiffany’s (Miss Guam Tourism 2007) Korean counterpart. She was also part of the famous but now defunct girl-group S.E.S, and is now doing solo promotions. Anyway, I found this picture of her new (photo) shoot in the web just a while ago and I just couldn’t help but laugh my ass off at her attempt of avante garde fashion and decade revivals. Its just omg. And she’s suppose to be the face of Korea! Damn the Koreans that I know aren’t this…um…fashionably retarded? hopefully?

I dare anyone to tell me that her second photo, the fushia…dress, doesnt resemble a hot water bottle as shown on the right. Tip her upside down and you’ll see. And please don’t get me started on the first pic, I just wanted to cry at the sight of her (fine Ill be generous) … outfit. Where should I start? Hmmm…maybe with the S&M sandals, or maybe the candy orange school girl socks, the messy array of accessories on her neck or should I just come out with it and attack her hideous top. I mean look at it it has eyes with shades, a metal strap that I don’t know but just completely ruins an already ugly get-up. And look closely at how unaware she is about her arm. It looks broken and deformed?! A model should ALWAYS be aware of his/her body—it really does make or break a picture really.The only other thing more entertaining than Bada in this picture than her house-shorts is the guy is the background—totally bahaki (how do you spell that?) wearing women’s sandals, now thats what I call professional wear.LOL. This isnt the first time Bada has been in under the fashion police radar either. I will not even mention her little smurf getups. I want to stab Bada’s stylist.

What’s up peoples? Yeah haven’t updated in a while, but I have a really good reason for that though…there’s nothing to update about. Summer school is boring just because the school is practically deserted and Im getting fatter as the days pass, so yeah. Well its another night of boredom so i decided to use some of my energy to do what I do best—BITCH. But yeah ill limit myself to celebrities and their faux pas for fashion. I might get too happy if I start bitching about other stuff. These celebrities are attending a launching party in Korea for Louis Vuitton, so these celebrities are pretty well known to be invited, but dude famous or not doesnt exempt you from dressing well.

First is the beautiful Lee Hye Young, the woman is in her thirties and is still kickin’. Her personality also adds to her spice, she’s hilarious in Heroine 6, but this dress is not doing anything for her at all. I mean it looks like she washed the thing, then turbo dried it, and then five minutes before the party put it on and flaunted it as if it actually looked good. I dont know, maybe ironing out that th..dress might do it. Sorry Ms. Lee you’re hot, but the dress is a complete EWWW. Looks hot to me. Ryu Seung Bum is rockin it simple yet a whole lot better than a lot of his red carpet buddies. And the small (LV)bear pin also adds a little personality to his outfit. An AWWW outfit to me. Pretty Shin Mina is looking choked up at the moment. I’m sorry to say but the minute I say this picture I couldnt help but laugh my arse off. I mean look at that gigantic bow, its ridiculous! It also looks like a piece of a curtain she decided to just wrap around her neck. It blocks her long neck and drowns out her beautiful face. EWWW to the core. What is it with celebrities and making dresses out of curtains? I admit I kinda liked her outfit at first glance but after a while I cant help but think it resembles a bunch of rags put together with a little gold to add a little “bam” to it. I fits her body well but honey, if you want to be a fashionista using curtains as your first choice is so not the way to go. GOTTA LOVE THE HEELS THOUGH. Another EWWW dress…or curtain, which ever you prefer. And here ladies and gentlemen is the outfit that take the cake: Ms.Kong Hyo-jin in her I-dont-know, the dress is simple for my taste the cut seems a little lax for such an event, but what really irks me about this outfit has got to be the flowers on her head, they look like ears–how much you wanna bet she thinks she looks cute?Fashion runway models have been sporting the flower-head look from past spring collections, but not everything that looks good on models will look good on everyone–someone tell Ms. Kong that please. Flowers worn pinned to shirts are formal and those worn behind the ear is exotic, wear them on your head and you’ll look like a poodle . Its a WTF moment for me
