For those who do not know who, Sandara Park, is (understandably) I will give a little background on her before I continue my rant. Sandara Park was once a contestant on the popular talent show “Star Circle Quest” held by one of the largest television companies in the Philippines. Being Korean she was a novelty during the entire course of the contest and gained many fans with her charisma. She did not win the contest being able to capture the second spot behind her boyfriend, who won the contest. Famous for her relationships, (lack of) talent, and cheesy image, Sandara Park, was able to capture a great number of fans during her reign as Pop Princess. But in the midst of all her popularity, Sandara Park, decided to return to her native Korea to audition for the entertainment agency, YG Entertainment. Little is known about how well she did during that audition, but one thing known for sure, upon her arrival back to the Philippines, the teen cult phenomenon once known as Sandy was a distant memory. Shows and movies that she once dominated during her “hey days” were too busy with emerging fresh stars, Park was left with little on her plate, if any at all. Today she is doing fairly well, hardly seen but still present.
But it seems that Park might actually have another shot at fame, this time in Korea. Apparently, the YG audition went pretty well since it is all over the internet how she is now going to be part of the YG family. YG plans to debut Park as the next BoA. Now that is pretty bold. Given Park was often slammed for being all cute and charisma and no talent and given BoA is on a completely different playing field from her.
As I write this, I wonder though how Park’s dedicated fans are feeling for trading them in for the Korean market. I mean Park has even stated ” I’m more Filipino, than Korean.” once on a show and now she’s leaving. I guess I can not really blame her for trying to take on Korea. I just hope YG won’t get too disappointed about Park’s “talents”, I mean in the Philippines she is known for her novelty, cheesy songs and awkwardness more than anything else.
Now that the Philippines will lose Park, how will her fans react? How will Korea take to the Filipinized-Korean? Will they even stand her (a lot of Filipinos hardly could)? Will she make it or come crawling back to the Philippines? Given the short life-expectancy of female singers in Korea, especially pop idols, will she be able to utilize her time?
I don’t know how she will fare, but the Korean market will be hard to break with her talents, or lack of thereof. I will definately follow this story.

Are you kidding? ABS-CBN (ugh) was treating her like shit, and it’s not as if her financial situation was that great in the Philippines. Never mind that the attitude of the industry seems to be “we can only have one Korean at a time.” I mean, that’s discriminatory and ridiculous. I’m surprised she stayed in the country for as long as she did!
And don’t forget how many people watch Korean dramas or whatever there. Hopefully she won’t become the next BoA, because BoA’s pretty bad… whatever, at least they’ll actually give her more than three songs to sing.

hey guys!!!i just read a korean news today called shugan manila exclusive for koreans only here in philippines and my husband korean translated to me that sandara was the no.1 talking in town there in korea cos shes the mtv model of the new release song of 2 famous singer of YG entertainment!the korean people was very curious of her!cos in the video she’s kissing to 1 of the boy band in the video!its awesome u know!!i thinked she will be a bright star in korea someday!

you know… when I first saw her in Star Circle Quest (after unsatiesfied channel search) I thought she’s kinda weird. I really don’t like ABS-CBN before and for some reason… the next day I flipped the channel to ABS-CBN to watch SCQ and the next day and the day after that and for the following couple of days. It was… odd for me but then I concluded that it must be because of her. I mean, sure she’s like this “wacko” chick and totally careless. after I left the Philippines and then came back for a vacation I wondered what happened to her. Now I see all over the internet what happened to her. She was this very lively person that captured my attention. She did have… the weirdest song that I’ve heard before and (to be honest) I didn’t like it much but I didn’t stop me from being her fan. I really think she’s great and if people keep on saying she’s a no-talent, hey look around… what have you done to her? Isn’t SCQ suppose to be a star search? well look where she’s now. If she didnt have any talent then when accepted her? I think there’s more to her. I really don’t know BoA that much but after listening to TVXQ and Anyband’s music I really figure she’s got a realy talent. Sandara might not be really a good shot like her… but her hard work will pay off. I’m just hoping… that she won’t be known all over Asia as a “BoA double” or be famous because she looks like somebody. I’m just really hoping she’ll be known all over Asia because of her own talents and I could say this all I want now; The Philippines should cry for her back not her crying back for them.

I will definitely wait for this thing to happen! I like Sandara! She is awkward, yes, but there is something in her that would charm people! Too bad ABS-CBN did not really held her well when another newcomer/new winner of the PBB came! I remember one interview Sandara had when she said that was the time she needed her friends in the industry the most, but couldn’t grope for someone. she known as sandy in the philippines, hero angeles (her former loveteam partner) was the grand questor of SCQ, and sandara was the in the 1st place… they have a lot of fans and
viewers in the phil., people love their tandem, and people going crazy, but she had a boyfriend that time named joseph was also a questor. hero and joseph are very good friends…
sandara is a great recording artist, she had an album in the star records (one of the biggest recording company in the phil.,), she had a lot of movie in star cinema (one of the biggest production in the phil.,), she also a lot of tv shows… including sandara’s romance and i love is scq reload – ok ako!.
well, all we want is sandara’s happiness!

I really have no fucking clue at all why YG, the BESTTT hip-hop entertainment in Korea, would ACCEPT her. I mean look maybe she might have the looks and everything but definately nto the next Boa. holy crap…. BoA? is she really that good? if you compare her talent to our local pop singers(phils.) i dont think she can make it to the top. shes only an average pop singer (sorry for the Boa fans its only my opinion). her voice is really average and i know that sandara can improve her singing talent and maybe will be much better than her.

i think her career in the phillippines limited her abilities on sustaining success or whoever she was contracted with didn’t do a good enough job managing her… when she suffered the whole nation seemed to rub it in her face! i’m glad she made the decision to leave and have yg entertainment adopt her in south korea!
i don’t know much about the entertainment in the philippines, but we’ll surely see the difference now… she’s part of the newly anticipated girls-group version of bigbang, she’s been trained and will be working with high profiled artists of yg family and mentors… they’ll do an excellent job shaping her!
as for being the next boa, its only comparisons based on appearance, they do look somewhat similar… how can you guys be so oblivious to this? obviously their approach in the entertainment industry is entirely different – she’s not a solo artist! i hope her debut is successful so that she can leave the filipino entertainment industry weeping for desire!

I hate it when Filipinos get so cocky over things like this. When someone you know gets successful, you’re like “Oh, pinoy yan! Ang galing talaga ng pinoy! Pinoy pride! Charice, Pacquiao, Charlie, Arnel Pineda, etc.. etc..” And now, they’ve seen a successful Sandara in Korea who was once working in the Philippine entertainment industry and suddenly all those who stepped on her while she was here in the Philippines stands up and says “Another Filipino pride, ang galing talaga ng mga pinoy, pinoy rules, etc.. etc..”
Duh..!! Sandy doesn’t even have a single drop of Filipino blood so please don’t claim that she was once in the Philippines because everyone knows that already! That’s what I hate in Filipinos.. They’re so full of pride for every single international success of their fellow countrymen pero anong resulta? Phils is so poor..
Gush.. So irritating.. Anyway, I’m a big Kmovie, Kdrama, Kpop fan and I will say, Sandara is doing really good in Korea and I’m glad she’s there. Please (to all those who said ‘please come back here in the Philippines’), please, I’m begging you, do not make her life a hell.. ABS can’t even afford a salary comparable to what she’s getting in Korea.. I’ve watched her movies in the Philippines and they keep on giving her cheesy roles! Enough with that crap! nd YG Entertainment isn’t really aiming for her to be like BoA. instead, they placed sandara in a girl group called 2NE1 (to anyone). the other girls are actually really talented…and i’m shocked at how much sandara’s dancing improved…her singing could use a little more work…but i think singing in korean is much better for her voice than in tagalog…i think she’s gonna do great…WISH HER ALL THE BEST!! well, you said that sandara is known for her novelty, cheesy songs and awkwardness, simply because she’s trying really hard to be a Filipina, and that makes her different than any aspiring actresses in the Philippines.
Why don’t you try to go to Korea, audition in any agency or talent scouts, then you’ll see, you will also be labeled as novelty and the likes.
She’s just different from the ‘norm’ here in Philippine showbizness and that not makes her not talented at all..have you tried watching sandara sings on her own language? or acts with her own korean style? i guess not..
so dont judge her as if you know how to act or sing right, unlike sandara, she’s trying really hard to find her place in this world.have you? haha!

first of all, I have to agree with you (the author).
Sandara Park has NO TALENT.
1. She can’t sing. I mean, I don’t know how high (or low) the requirement is in the Phillipines, but in Korea, you have to be good. I mean, there are those certain people who aren’t good but are still popular, but wait until they get old. Then their out of the picture.
Also, I mean, in YG, you have to have talent. Sure, you can learn to sing, but you’ll never be as good as someone who has NATURAL TALENT (such as Park Bom, CL, or Minji).
2. As a singer, I don’t think her attitude really matters. I mean, look at Chris Brown. His attitude is WAY off the page and yet his songs are still nice. (People don’t get this wrong: I’m not supporting him). Singers are singers because they can sing. It’s as simple as that. Don’t try to argue with me that she can sing because I can prove it. Compare CL and Sandara’s voice. See? CL is WAY better.
